Why did I join Slimming World? After
careful thoughts and talking it through with some friends and fellow
members I decided that this would be the right option for me. So I took myself off to my nearest group.
I didn't want to be on a diet where you have to calorie count, and restrict you to only eating certain things.
Slimming World is all about eating what you want in moderation and of
course eating more of the right foods. It's not about dieting which is
what I love about it, it's more of getting you into that healthier
lifestyle.
I
felt a little bit daunted and thought that when they weigh you they
share it with the group or its not done in a personal way, boy was I
fearing the worst. In
reality there were lots of lovely people there, your weigh ins are done
in a very discreet way and it was very uplifting to hear about peoples
goals and achievements. I joined alone and while at the group I spotted a few neighbours and friends.
Because a few friends are part of the Slimming World group, it's
great to know I have support if I want to talk to anyone about it or
share ideas and recipes! I LOVE FOOD and I'm so glad that I have chosen
Slimming World as I don't have to cut out too much of my everyday diet
anyway. I explained that my problem lies not with my meals but the in
between meal habits and was told if I feel like eating something reach
for a piece of fruit or some veg rather than reaching for the
chocolates, biscuits and crisps I would normally binge on out of
boredom.
Keeping myself busy and adding more exercise into my daily lifestyle has
also helped with the food cravings and of course will help me achieve
my target weight. I love the booklets and information that they give you
and I'm still slowly getting my head around how meals are worked out....There is still a lot of info to read and get through but I'm so glad I did it.
So my weight was not as bad as I first thought but it's shocking for me. I'm 9st 3.5lbs
I set myself a target to lose 1 stone for now and then go from there. I
also wanted to try and get into the habit of drinking more water which
will also help with the hunger pangs.
I know some of my hunger feelings is thirst but instead of satisfying
it I do reach for the snacks which is a habit I want to kick.
I would definitely recommend joining Slimming World if you're looking for a diet that's not so strict which also promotes a healthier lifestyle. So this is my Journey and I really hope you enjoy following my progress.
