I've got a different post to share with you today, for those of you that know me know, I'm a massive dog lover and I will always try to do what I can for charity, a couple of years ago whilst watching Text Santa on TV I saw an item about the guide dogs charity. Before seeing this and doing my research, I just assumed people that were registered blind or with partial sight loss just automatically received a guide dog if they wanted one. How wrong was I?!
You don't need to be registered blind or partially sighted to own a guide dog, some people still have some of their vision. There's currently 180,000 people in the UK who are blind or partially sighted who rarely leave home alone. Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss, by 2050, there could be nearly four million.
So what can we do to help?! Well, I decided I wanted to sponsor a Guide Dog puppy. I wanted to sponsor a puppy for £5 a month. You can donate as little or a much as you want. You can choose between 3 guide dog puppies to sponsor, My first puppy was a gorgeous Golden Retriever called Angel.
When you sponsor a puppy you will receive regular pupdates following their journey, a photo album and photos of your pup, a personalised certificate, a gorgeous calendar at the end of each year and a fridge magnet. It's such a fantastic cause and if you're a dog lover and unable to keep a dog yourself this is such a lovely gift.
I'm so glad I do this, I've recently received my first pupdate from my new guide dog puppy Zac. I was so pleased to get the news that Angel graduated and was partnered with a lovely lady called Joan.
I didn't get to choose my next sponsored puppy and I loved the surprise of receiving my new fridge magnet and photos. My sponsorship automatically carried on so I didn't have to do anything. I mean look at how handsome Zac is!! I love that when you receive your first photo it has all the info about them on it.
This truly is a fantastic charity and cause, it costs Guide Dogs around £50,000 a dog. That's breeding and training, then also to support the ongoing partnership until the dog retires. That's a lot of money but with just as little as £5 a month you really could make a big difference to someone's life. There's so many inspirational stories to read on the Guide Dogs website.
What are you waiting for?! Why not sponsor a puppy today?? Do you already sponsor a puppy??
Lots of Love
